We are open for membership!

Membership is $50/month which is a great deal considering what you will get.  Membership at Chatt*Lab has the following benefits:

  • Key fob access to our space, and access to all the tools.
  • Member Storage.  Keep some of your private stash here so you don’t have to lug it in each day.
  • Voting privileges to help direct where our club goes, and elect officers.
  • Discounts on all of our workshops.  (Basically, at cost).
  • Access to the Tool Pool, a sequestered set of take home DIY tools for home projects.

For more information, please join us at our regular Tuesday meetings at our space in North Shore.  If want to fill out an application for membership, please signup here

Wow – I had no idea you guys were around – I saw the video on hack-a-day just now. I would love to join-up – whenever you decide on membership details, just let me know. I would also like to know if there is anything I can do to help out (I realize I’m late to the build-out party – wish I had known). Can I stop by some time?….b.t.

    • Thanks Bob. We are close to having a complete buildout as well as enough equipment to justify a launch party. We have some legal and insurance stuff to get out of the way as well before we open the doors. Rest assured when we get this ready for launch, we’ll let everyone know. We are very close.

Saw the HaD article, then came here. I was wondering if there is some way I could get an email sent my way when you all start accepting members. I have a few projects that I’m trying to work on, but not enough space, and not enough tools.

    • Sure, just hit the RSS link in the upper right of the site (best), or when you reply to a post or comment, wordpress will give you options to follow via email.

Glad you guys are opening up. Any chance you will have group or youth memberships.
We would like to have access to your space for some of our larger projects that we can’t do at the school.

    • This is definitely in the long term plan. Two of the reasons I’ve been motivated to help make this a reality are my twins who are almost 4 yo at this point. Contributing to the makerspace is my way of trying to improve the education available to kids and selfishly mine are right at the top of the list! Glenn I’d like to collaborate with you on how we could accomplish this in the future. Feel free to send me a message directly. tim at chattlab dotorg

I would love to come check this out. I am moving soon, but would love the option for a daily or weekly pass? Just a thought! I wish this was here years ago before I decided to leave this city!

  5. Tom says:

I’m ready to join whenever you set it up.

Any news on when you might be taking applications? Chattlabs has got to be the best thing to come to our area in a long time for some of us.

Hey guys any news on yet on when you will be open for signups?
Thanks for all your doing for us!

    • We are working hard to get there. Realistically we are talking end of year. Trying to keep expectations low and exceed them. Please RSS us and keep an eye on us.

Read about these hackerspaces on Hack a Day, so I google “Chattanooga hackerspace…” and i’m lead right back to Hack a Day! Ha, how about that?

I CANNOT wait for you guys to be up and running, it will be so great to be involved in something like this.

    • Hack a Day is one of the most popular hacker/maker blogs on the net so I’m sure they are Google ranked higher than us for most keywords but that does suck!

Anyhow, we hear you and will have more to share this Spring. 2013 is going to be an amazing year for making in Chattanooga.

Come check out the Maker Day at the library on March 16th and meet your fellow makers. Get in and swim!

I almost fell out of my chair when I found this site! I had no idea there were so many Makers in Chattanooga. I believe a facility such as this would be an amazing way to get my (nearly) 4 year old daughter excited about art and creativity. I believe it’s really important to cultivate creativity in our children and I can’t wait until you guys open the doors.

    Hello, Chattlab!
This is Paul Sandin, co-inventor of Roomba. I am running a Kickstarter campaign called “Butler” to fund the production of a big low-cost mobile platform designed to make the creation of new types of mobile robots cheaper, faster, and simpler. I think you will find it to be a good starting place for mobile robot projects.

Please consider contributing to the campaign and/or sharing the Kickstarter link with others who you think might be interested in Butler.

I understand you are just getting started with your hackerspace. Good luck!

Just found out about you. I teach high school Electrical Energy Systems and Chemistry and teach my students a fair amount of circuits and energy projects. Interested in the space. I’m interested in joining. Is there a way to view the space first?

  12. The membership application is a dead link.

I recently moved to Chattanooga and have been looking into woodworking as a hobby. Do you guys have available space and any classes coming up in the near future?
